Announcements for November 4, 2022

Hi All,

I'm looking forward to Sunday and I hope y'all are too!

Just as a reminder (after the pop-quiz Thursday):

Dress for men are Tuxedos or Black suits with a bow tie, white shirt, black socks and black shoes.

Dress for Women are All-Black Pantsuits or dresses (knee length or longer) with black shoes.

So let's have a great concert!!

Hi, Everyone!

Great work on the dress last night - I look to a rewarding concert this Sunday!

In the event you misplaced the hard copy I distributed yesterday, here is the logistics sheet for the concert:

ASB Concert Logistics – November 6, 2022

2:30 PM – full ensemble warm-up on stage (check various spots in concert order)

3:10 PM – clear stage (if leaving folders on stands, make sure music is in order and folders are closed)

3:15 PM – house opens

3:55 PM – band members return to stage, individual warm up

4:00 PM – Concert starts

·      Lighting switch (house lights down, stage lights up); Clary stands – this is your cues to stop playing and start the tuning process. (solo oboe gives concert A for WW, Bb for brass, tuba gives an F for everyone)

·      Fred Behning welcomes audience/general announcements; introduces BH

·      BH enters (be ready to stand everyone!); program begins

1. Sousa – Washington Post

·      BH exits stage, KG enters 

2. Adam Gorb – Eine Kline Yiddishe Ragmusik

·      Acknowledge soloists: oboe, flute, ASX

·      After this piece, KG goes to the mic to say a few words.

3. David Gillingham – Beautiful Dreamer

·      Acknowledge soloists: flute, clarinet

·      After piece, KG goes to mic and talks about American Hymnsong Suite, intermission

4. Milburn – American Hymnsong Suite (all 4 mvmts in order)

- INTERMISSION -

·      At conclusion of Milburn, stage lights go down, house lights go up; 15-minute intermission

·      Take this time to rest your chops – head back out to stage over the last 3 minutes of the intermission and resume individual warm up.

·      Lighting switch (house lights down, stage lights up); Clary stands – this is your cues to stop playing and start the tuning process. (solo oboe gives concert A for WW, Bb for brass, tuba gives an F for everyone)

·      KG enters (be ready to stand everyone!); program continues

5. Grantham – Exhilaration and Cry

·   KG introduces next piece and welcomes BH back to stage

6. Hagenberg – We May Rise

·      Acknowledge soloists: piano, trombone, horn

·      As BH heads back to percussion section, KG goes to mic for closing remarks

7. Reed – Armenian Dances

·      On your feet to accept the applause of a gracious audience on your wonderful performance!
