Announcements for November 11, 2022

From the Board President

Hi All,

I hope everyone is doing well.

I again want to congratulate everyone on a Concert well played. Also, thanks to everyone who helped make the weekend a success both in front of and behind the scenes!!

Speaking of the Concert, Eddie did a great job with the videos - they are now loaded on YouTube and approved for public viewing. Here are the links to them:

I think you will agree these are great videos and the music is awesome!

Speaking of the music, Eddie also asked me to let y'all know that:

The audio recordings from the 11/6/2022 "Songs & Dances" Concert are available for members to download. As was done last season, the files are available both as MP3 files and as uncompressed CD-quality WAV files.  For each type, there are two versions for you to choose from. One set has a subtle touch of reverb added to compensate for some of the aural dryness of the Connally PAC. Realizing not everyone will like added reverb, the original is also available. The non-reverb version is what was used in the YouTube videos.

So that's about it for this week.  See y'all on Tuesday!

From the Executive Director

Hello, ASB Family!

Congratulations, again on a fantastic concert last weekend! Onward and upward, as they say, and we have many exciting things ahead.

GivingTuesday is just around the corner on November 29th! Our giving goal this year is $5,000! Last year we raised $4,875 in private and corporate matches. We feel $5K is very achievable for 2022 and if we exceed this goal, we will have stretch goals in place. Many thanks to our Marketing and Development Teams who are working hard to support this fundraiser!

Remember, our membership (YOU) are by far the most influential strategy we have to spread the word and to advocate for ASB! If every member was able to raise $55 for ASB, we’d meet our goal. Take a moment to think about who is in your network of friends, family, coworkers, etc. that you could invite this year to support us. Support can be many different things: volunteer, like us on social media, follow us on YouTube, come to a concert, donate, etc.. Consider sharing about ASB with 5 new people in the next 2 weeks. Check if your employer has a matching gift program or giving incentives. As you see social media posts and emails roll out in the coming weeks, please share and forward these announcements to your network and don’t forget to mention what this organization means to you!

Thanks all— and HAPPY VETERANS DAY to our brave men and women who served!

From the Assistant Music Director

Hi Everyone!

This Tuesday we will read the Holst- Marching Song and Grainger- Spoon River. Along with our preparation on these two works, we will dig into some of the pieces that were introduced last week....(if the upper woodwinds and euphoniums are nice to me, I'll slow the tempo down a bit).

I can't wait to see and hear you again.

From the Music Director

Greetings ASB!

Thanks for your wonderful efforts sight-reading the new concert music. I think this next concert cycle will be a very rewarding one…there is a TON of great music.

Thanks in advance to Bill for leading you through rehearsal this coming Tuesday; he has a great plan for you all and I’m sure it will be a productive rehearsal.

Listed below are some direct YouTube links to reference recordings. Some of these are the versions we are performing, while others are the original orchestral versions. I’m also providing a Google Drive link, where you can directly download audio files to your computer or smartphone. (NOTE: Some of these recordings are different from the provided YouTube links.)

I’ll add more to this Google Folder as the weeks progress - coming soon will be some of the Gilbert & Sullivan source material for Pineapple Poll, so look for that!

Wishing you all the best!
