More About Jayme

How are you keeping music alive during ASB’s COVID-19 hiatus?

Bassoon: I practice whenever I can. Right now I’ve been digging into my baroque sonatas and concertos and revisiting old etude books. I have had a lot fun browsing fellow bassoonists’ social media to see what they are doing with arrangements etc. I am considering transcribing some baroque works for bassoon if they don’t already exist. I am currently rehearsing with Bryan Chin-Foon in a socially distanced bassoon quartet to prepare a recording for a virtual concert with Austin Civic Orchestra.

Piano: I practice from time to time. I have played since age 8 and like to revisit the works of Chopin and Beethoven, as well as my own compositions. I recently published my own composition on Sheet Music Plus, which was the realization of a lifelong dream for me.

Blog: I currently have an academic blog which, from time to time, features posts about music history, bassoon, and other creative and academic pursuits. I am planning a post on the history of the bassoon and also recently completed one on ballet.
