ASB Members Take the Stage in La Bohème!

If you had the opportunity to see any Austin Opera productions this past concert season, then perhaps you spotted some of Austin Symphonic Band’s members! Six of our regular performers were part of the onstage banda for Austin Opera’s production of La Bohème this past Spring at the Long Center.

The opera "La Bohème" is about the tragic love story of Mimí and Rodolfo - a poor poet and an equally poor seamstress - set in Paris in the year 1830. The opera is based on a book by Henri Murger called Scenes from Bohemian Life. It is an Italian opera in four acts. The music was written by Giacomo Puccini, and the libretto was written by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa.

Check out this clip on YouTube - La Boheme Act II La Banda - to see how the role of the banda played out during the production.
