Peter Bay, Music Director of the Austin Symphony, conducts one of his favorite pieces for concert band: George Washington Bridge by William Schuman. He will be joined by guest conductors Cheryl Floyd and Dr. Brad Kent, UIL Director of Music and Conductor of the Texas Youth Wind Symphony.
Some of the greatest choral works in history have been beautifully transcribed for concert band, and some of the transcriptions retain choral parts. This concert includes works by Carl Orff, Percy Grainger, Morten Lauridsen, and others.
The Austin Symphonic Band will perform music by French composers and music about France. This concert includes works by Darius Milhaud, Claude Debussy, Martin Ellerby and George Gershwin, plus classic French marches.
The Austin Symphonic Band presents its traditional Fall concert in Zilker Park on September 17, 2017, at 7:00pm.
